News 12 spoke virtually with David Gonsalves, of New Rochelle, Monday afternoon while he was in Los Angeles as a volunteer with the American Red Cross.
He says he will be there for two weeks to mainly build relationships with community organizations, as well as businesses, and then connect them with others in ways they can help.
He shared a few examples, "businesses are reaching out to the Red Cross and other organizations saying for example, 'you can use my premises... People are offering goods and services."
In total, he says there are hundreds of other volunteers with the organization there, including about a dozen from the tri-state.
