New York will start giving
approximately 164,800 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at a variety
of locations across the state this week.
Today, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s
office announced that mass vaccination sites at Yankee Stadium and Javits
Center will operate around the clock. “To ensure an efficient and streamlined
administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, these doses will be
administered separately from the Pfizer vaccines at these sites. While the
Pfizer vaccine requires two doses, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine
only requires one,” says the governor’s website.
The Yankee Stadium site will
administer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Thursday, March 4 between 8
p.m. and 7 a.m., while the Javits Center will
give doses between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
CVS will also begin giving the J&J option this week. CNN
is reporting doses are being shipped to stores in 17 states,
including New York. News 12 is working to find out if any of those locations are in the
Hudson Valley.
New York expects its next
allocation of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in approximately
10 days.
