The Yonkers Police Department has introduced a new Community Opioid Outreach Program, with the goal of educating, preventing, intervening, and fostering positive change in response to the opioid crisis.

This initiative comes after Attorney General Letitia James filed a suit against several drug manufacturers and distributors in 2019 for their involvement in the opioid epidemic.

With many cases settled, New York State has received approximately $1.6 billion in funding, with Yonkers receiving around $800,000 of that amount.
