Two men were shot early Sunday morning in Williamsburg. Both are expected to be OK, according to police.
It happened just before 5 a.m. near 43 Montrose Ave. Video from the scene shows an ambulance pulling up as officers helped two victims—one man on the ground and another standing and waiting for EMS.
Officials say a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to Woodhull Hospital. A 26-year-old man was grazed by a bullet and brought to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. Both men are stable.
Police now say people of interest are in custody. They have not released any details about who they are.
Neighbors told us the gunfire was jarring in a normally quiet area.
“We heard gunshots—like three very loud pops. It woke me up. I looked out the window and there was a guy just laying down and the cops came,” said Gina, a local resident.
Yehia Sulaiman, who works at a nearby mini mart, said he was surprised: “From what I know, this is a quiet neighborhood. We’ve been here about three months and it’s nice and quiet… really am [surprised]—especially at 5 a.m.”
