A local family is offering a $20,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for setting fire to their home.
The Jamal family informed News 12 that the incident occurred on Halloween night around 9:30 p.m. in Greenburgh, where they are currently in the process of constructing a new home. Their security cameras captured the entire event.
A masked individual, dressed in a white jumpsuit and holding a can of gasoline in one hand and an axe in the other, forcibly broke through the glass door, entered the house, and exited within a span of two minutes. It is apparent from the footage that he removed his mask as he made his escape, suggesting that he may have sustained a burn on his head.
The family had plans to move in next month, but these intentions have been inevitably postponed. The fire resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages and, more significantly, the loss of their peace of mind.
If you have any information about this crime, please call the Greenburgh Police Department at (914) 989-1722
