A star football athlete in an Orange County private school is facing serious charges for allegedly bringing a BB gun to school and shooting another student.

Goshen police say 17-year-old Ryan McClurg shot out a window of an SUV and left a welt on Anthony Tagliaferro's chest. Police say McClurg hid the gun inside his Middletown home Monday and went back to school, where he was arrested.

Burke High School students have defended McClurg, saying he was joking around when he allegedly shot Tagliaferro.
