An Orange County family is left picking up the pieces after their home was destroyed by fire. It's the second time flames erupted at this home within the last two years.
"Everything is destroyed, I have nothing," says Orange County resident Sue Boccard.
Sue Boccard's home was destroyed in a fire.
It's on Birchwood Court in the Washingtonville/Campbell Hall area of Orange County.
She says on Monday evening, she was reading inside when she suddenly heard her daughter yell.
"I hear my daughter yelling, 'fire, there's a fire in the house.' I ran downstairs and went out the front door," Boccard tells News 12.
Everyone made it out but the flames spread fast.
"The house went up in 10 minutes, it wasn't long," Boccard explains.
About eight departments responded to the home to help get the flames under control, according to assistant chief Jim Ballard, with the Campbell Hall Fire Department.
Unfortunately, this isn't a first for the Boccard's.
Just two years ago, there was another fire at their home.
Boccard says that one started in their garage.
"That was from my car. Last time, I was able to save my dining room set, we were able to get the furniture out," says Boccard.
They were able to rebuild then and are planning to do that again.
"We were very lucky twice, I don't want a third time," Boccard tells News 12.
Boccard says they're staying with neighbors as they figure out the next steps.
