The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has now opened several one-stop disaster relief centers in the Hudson Valley, including one in Orange County.
Mark Wilson, a FEMA community relations specialist, says he and other FEMA workers are making their way through hard-hit towns such as Washingtonville to help residents apply for disaster aid.
The disaster recovery center at the Orange County fire training center in New Hampton will help residents file with FEMA, or to find out about the status of their application.
The center is open from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., seven days a week and is staffed by not only FEMA representatives, but also state and local agencies and the Small Business Administration.
There is also a disaster recovery center in Rockland County at the Provident Bank Ballpark in Pomona.
