A minivan drove into the rear of the Pelham Family Center Friday
afternoon, officials say.
The incident happened at 507 Fifth Ave. at around 12 p.m.
Officials say there were people working in a nearby room inside of the building
at the time but fortunately
no one was injured,
A
portion of the back of the building has been destroyed. Cinder blocks
from the building are still being collected in a pile with other rubble, including
shattered glass from windows.
Crews from Pelham and New Rochelle fire departments have been
cutting wood to keep the ceiling from collapsing due to the damage.
The building
manager is still picking up the pieces but declined to comment on the incident.
Pelham police
are looking into who the driver was and investigating what happened at the time
of the crash.
