A 13-year-old boy is in the hospital after police say he fell onto the subway tracks in Eastchester on Sunday afternoon.
It happened shortly after 4 p.m. near the Baychester Avenue subway station.
MTA sources told News 12 they believe the teenager was subway surfing with two other people, and they were on top of an uptown-bound train along the 2 and 5 subway lines.
The train was about 300 feet away from the Baychester Avenue station when the boy fell, according to sources.
Police said the teen was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with minor injuries.
Commuters called subway surfing a dangerous trend and a major issue in the city.
“I don’t think it’s anything that police or authorities can do about it,” said Joe, of Harlem. “It just needs to stop.”
“These kids have to be cautioned from the home,” said Carleen, of Eastchester. “It’s all from the home.”
