2 NYPD officers shot in the Bronx are stable, suspect wounded

The NYPD said the two officers wounded by gunfire were hurt along with a suspect who was also shot, around 8 p.m. on Beaumont Avenue in the Bronx.

Below are updates from the news conference held by Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Dermot Shea:
•The incident began when a citizen called 911 about an individual.
•Two officers from the 48th Precinct approached the individual and a gunfight ensued. 
•A female officer, with the force for one year, was struck in the right arm.  She is a military veteran who serves with the Air Force. 
•A male officer, with the force for eight years, was struck near the chest.
•The suspect was hit approximately three times, underwent surgery and is in the hospital.
•The officers are in stable condition. 
•The firearms was brought to New York from out of state, it was reported stolen last year in Georgia. 
•The suspect is a career criminal, according to Commissioner Shea.

Two New York Police Department officers were shot and wounded and another was hit by a car in separate incidents Wednesday night that sent all three to area hospitals.
The NYPD said the two officers wounded by gunfire were hurt along with a suspect who was also shot, around 8 p.m. on Beaumont Avenue in the Bronx.
Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner Dermot Shea held a press conference at St. Barnabas Hospital Wednesday night.

The officers’ injuries were not life-threatening, police said, and neither was the suspect’s, who was taken into custody. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
Earlier, around 6:30 p.m. near Farragut Road in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, an officer suffered a leg injury Wednesday night after getting hit by a car, authorities said.
The officer was taken to the hospital, and authorities said he was in stable condition.
