Residents of Rockland County turned in $10,000 worth of unused prescription drugs last weekend as part of Operation Medicine Cabinet.
The operation was organized in response to last week's 29 arrests of people in their teens and 20s who are accused of stealing prescription pills from medicine cabinets and selling them on the street.
"By having these drugs in your medicine cabinet, you're leaving a temptation open for anyone that visits your house," says Clarkstown Police Chief Peter Noonan.
Following last week's success, police are calling on people to drop their unused drugs at any police department this weekend.
