The Rockland County sheriff criticized proposed budget cuts Friday outside of County Executive Ed Day's office.
Day has proposed cutting more than 100 county jobs, including 37 patrol officers, to get the budget back in the black.
Sheriff Lou Falco says the move will only create more danger for those living in Rockland. He says public safety is not a compromise and that he will fight to make sure the cuts don't happen. He plans to make his case before the Legislature before the end of the year.
Falco asks that tax payers support him by writing to their legislators and to Day.
The county executive declined an on-camera interview, but told News 12 that it is absurd to assert that he would propose cuts that would compromise public safety. He says the cuts are difficult, but necessary.
