A safety inspector from Mahopac has been accused of lying about hundreds of gas pipeline test results in Westchester and New York City.
The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York says 44-year-old Michael Vasconcellos and another man from North Carolina falsely claimed they performed safety inspections.
Prosecutors say the duo concealed their lies with fake paperwork and were paid for the job that was never performed.
Vasconcellos was charged with one count of wire fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if he is convicted.
