Authorities say two people believed to be the son and son-in-law of the Satmar grand rabbi in Williamsburg are in critical condition after a car crash in Sullivan County.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says the two-car crash happened Sunday just before midnight by 4504 State Route 55 in Swan Lake.
Officials say 37-year-old Lipa Teitelbaum, and 40-year-old Joel Friedman, both passengers, suffered serious head injuries.
Sources say they are the son and son-in-law of Grand Rabbi Zalman Teitelbaum and that they were in the Catskills on vacation.
Authorities say four other people were also hurt in the crash and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
They say the driver, Moses Ackerman, is expected to be ticketed for making an illegal U-turn.
