A memorial inside the lobby of the St. Mary's Parks Houses continued to grow on Monday, following the death of 27-year-old Marcus Mclaughlin.

New surveillance video shows a black SUV speeding out of the NYCHA building's parking lot at 2:23 a.m. on Sunday. Neighbors told News 12 that was the same time they called police about a hit-and-run.

Police confirm to News 12 they responded to a call of a man struck by an SUV at 645 Westchester Ave. at around 2:24 a.m.

"I'm going right now through my own grief, because I took that kid when he was little, all the way to school...and to get a call that he's gone. That really took a lot from me," said one neighbor named Barbara.

Other neighbors were surprised and devastated as they walked into the building's lobby and looked at pictures of the father of three surrounded by candles and balloons.

"It's hard not to be affected. It's hard not to be concerned because just like him, there's a lot of youth out here," said another neighbor named Anthony.
