An unattended dump truck that rolled off a roadway and down an incline Tuesday morning prompted a response from fire crews.
Firefighters and a tow truck crew swiftly responded to the scene on Lewis Avenue, situated just off East Hartsdale Avenue.
According to fire officials, the dump truck was part of a utility crew engaged in repair work on the dead-end road. However, it unexpectedly rolled down an incline, veering off the roadway during mid-morning hours. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, although some property sustained damage.
With the assistance of an industrial-sized tow truck, the vehicle was successfully pulled back onto the roadway. Investigators are presently working to ascertain the root cause of the incident.
