Animal rescuers in West Milford are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading them to the owner of a dog that was found dead in the woods with a bungee cord tied to its neck.
The West Milford Police Department says the black and white male husky was found deceased wearing a black nylon tactical style collar that had a yellow and blue bungee cord hooked to it 10 feet in the woods off Clinton Road by Schoolhouse Clove Road on Oct. 26.
The New Jersey area is roughly 9 miles from Greenwood Lake, New York.
Authorities say the dog appears to be younger, and was not neutered. It had no ID tag and was not microchipped. The collar was a size large.
The West Milford Animal Shelter Society is offering the reward. Anyone with information about the dog’s owner is asked to call West Milford police at 973-728-2803 or email a.petrucelli@wmtpd.org.
