7 sentenced for defrauding federal program intended to help Rockland County schools

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says four of the defendants received more than $14 million over a six-year period but admitted they did not provide the equipment the federal government was billed for.

Seven individuals who pleaded guilty to defrauding a federal program meant to help Rockland County schools have been sentenced.
Authorities say the program was designed to provide information technology to underprivileged schools.
In 2016, the FBI raided several local businesses and homes during the investigation.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says four of the defendants received more than $14 million over a six-year period but admitted they did not provide the equipment the federal government was billed for.
Authorities say the sentencings for each defendant range from time served to four years in prison.
