So called "forever chemicals" are threatening multiple Hudson Valley drinking water sources.
The Westchester County Attorney John Nonna addressed concerns Monday of toxic chemicals in the water supply of communities near the Westchester County Airport.
PFAS don't break down easily and have been linked to cancer, kidney disease and birth defects.
The harmful chemicals originated while the property was being used by the Air National Guard over 35 years ago while they had a burn pit in use on the site.
The county attorney says they've now reached an agreement with the Department of Environmental Protection to fix the problem, but it won't happen overnight.
"The technology is evolving so it's a real challenge because no one has come up with how to deal with this issue where there's contamination of soil and ground water. But we been working on this issue for the last four years, and we'll continue to work on it until its resolved," says Nonna.
