  • Research Before Hiring: When in the hiring process, thoroughly research companies and contractors.
  • Document Everything: Ensure all agreements are in writing, including a detailed estimate before any payment discussion. Have a written, signed contract specifying start and completion dates, material costs, payment schedules, and warranties.
  • Stagger Payments, Use Safe Methods: Protect your payments by staggering them and opt for secure methods like credit cards.
