Authorities are still in pursuit of the suspect involved in a stabbing incident at the north swimming pool of Rockland Lake State Park over the weekend.
The incident occurred on Saturday, just before 5 p.m., amid a crowded pool session during an ongoing three-day heat wave. A young man sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck following an argument among a group of individuals, as reported by witnesses.
The victim's identity remains undisclosed, but it has been confirmed that the injuries are not life-threatening.
New York State Police have taken charge of the investigation, sealing off the area and deploying a substantial number of officers, including K-9 units, to search for potential suspects.
Detectives say they believe three to four males involved may have run into the woods.
Meanwhile, people using the pool today say they hope this was an isolated incident.
"Hopefully this still remains a safe place for everybody to come and enjoy the rest of the summer," says Leepa Poulose, of Congers.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have chosen not to release further information. Nevertheless, park police will maintain a presence at the location and increase patrols as crowds fluctuate.
