Police are now saying damage to the North Castle eagle sign appears to be intentional.
An officer noticed the downed sign Monday morning at the intersection of Routes 22 and 128.
Police said the sign's support structure was damaged, which is why the sign fell.
Because of the advanced deterioration of the wood support structure by rot, it's unclear when the damage occurred.
Police ask anyone with information to give them a call.
