Two housing construction sites in South Blooming Grove have been issued violations by the Department of Environmental Conservation after the water in a nearby creek turned milky-brown.
News 12 first reported on concerns with the creek’s appearance earlier this month.
The DEC says it found the Prospect Gardens site had “insufficient erosion and sediment controls” during a recent site visit and that a notice of violation was issued March 6.
Officials say the Clovewood site nearby was found to be discharging sediment-laden water from their retention pond and was also issued a notice of violation.
The DEC says it continues to closely monitor both sites.
