Community mourns 51-year-old Yonkers man who was fatally shot Monday morning

An altercation escalated when Ludvin Ramos-Cervantes produced a .45 caliber firearm and fired one round, fatally striking Francisco Gordillo in the head.

Police in Yonkers have arrested a teenage suspect in connection with a deadly shooting incident that occurred on Monday.

Police say they received a call just before 5 a.m. about a man injured in a vehicle near Willow Street and Mount Carmel Place.

Officers discovered Francisco Gordillo, 51, of Yonkers, inside a red Ford F-150 with an apparent gunshot wound to his head. Despite efforts to administer first aid, Gordillo was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to detectives, Gordillo was inside his truck with several individuals when an argument erupted involving Ludvin Ramos-Cervantes, 18, also from Yonkers. Ramos-Cervantes briefly left the scene but returned with a gun. The altercation escalated when Ramos-Cervantes produced a .45 caliber firearm and fired one round, fatally striking Gordillo in the head.

Ramos-Cervantes was apprehended on Monday and has been charged with second-degree murder.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano expressed condolences, stating, "We don't want to see anyone lose their lives to violence, especially in our City. I commend our Yonkers Police Department for making an arrest and hopefully helping to bring this family some closure."
